I was called to serve as the young women's ward camp director, yes you read this correctly me Jenny Horton who doesn't camp who likes to sit on the couch and read a good book or watch a great movie has been called to lead these girls in camp. I don't do fires I dont do tents I don't cook meals that are wrapped in tinfoil. Needless to say I am a bit nervous however life is about learning and growing so I can do this. The up side is I get to be with my Brooke and this year her and I together will be earning our young women medallion recognition, I never had a chance to do this in my youth so I am way excited. I am grateful for my Heavenly Father and I know he is aware of me and loves me, he has given me the holy ghost as a CONSTANT companion and friend. I love that everyday I can become better and stronger as a daughter of God and then on the not so good days I can be forgiven and start again. I am so lucky to be a mom in my life I feel like at times I really can make such a difference in their lives. I love my husband and best friend Cory with all my heart and soul and I know he and I were meant to endure this journey together. I am grateful for my calling in the nursery sometimes we have as much as 18 kids in there and I think each Sunday I have kissed each one of their cheeks at least once. These perfect children are such a joy to be around and I love them. I am so excited about our families new years resolution we have been waking up at 6:30 each morning to read a chapter or two from the Book of Mormon and I speak for all of us when I say our days are better. The scriptures are powerful and they were written truly for our time. Most of all I am blessed today from my trials we all have them, we all must face these bumps and hard times in this life. As for me they have made me stronger still some days are much harder then others when I think about what I have gone through the heart aches but to know that what I am feeling my savior has felt also and I can focus on the life to come because it will come, this life is short and the next is forever.

Disneyland 2011

We left for the airport early Christmas morning, 4am early to be exact. It was definitely a different Christmas but we loved it and I would do it again (although maybe one day shorter shhhhh lol) Brooke was on crutches and a wheelchair at Disney she had a dance injury to her ankle and that was fine with all of us because it made for some shorter lines for the rides. We ate churros, cinnamon rolls, cotton candy and Coke lots of Coca Cola!!! we saw two great movies and did some shopping. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe, but PF Changs was our favorite as it usually is! Kobe each morning ate pancakes with strawberry syrup and Mason french toast!! It was 75 degrees and even hit 78 one day, it was beautiful there. When we got to the hotel Santa was there to meet us Christmas day, the kids didn't waste a single minute. Kobe had to hit the hot tub each night before bed. We rode Tower of Terror at least 10 times we got wet on splash mountain and Mason and Kobe took on Buzz Light year. Space Mountain is better then ever. Christmas 2011 was super fun and unlike any gift I could have put under the tree I hope they will remember this the most.

So the ward came late last night and put this sign out in our yard for the newest young woman in our ward, that's right Brooke Horton is twelve. And with twelve comes new highlights for her hair :) for as long as I can remember Brooke has loved coming with me to get my hair done and for the last 4 years I have been going to a girl that Brooke idolizes. Her name is Kaylee and she is a ballerina and so Brooke was so excited for her to do her hair. I love you Brooke I had a great day with you and I am so proud of you love always Mom.

I forgot to blog about this little guy Kobe. He had a birthday on December 1st he wanted to have warm cinnamon rolls for breakfast so we did. I love you Kobe Reed I love how you love to dance with me all the time and how you will spend 30 minutes explaining a book to me that you are reading. I love that you love Friday because you get to sleep in the next morning as long as you want. I love that in church after you take the sacrament you go to sleep the rest of the meeting. You are so important to this family and you bring such a sweet love into our lives. Happy Birthday Kobe.

This is what happened to our house and fence after the wind storm, only minor compared to what others faced. Cory has been repairing roofs for all his cute families in Centerville all week. I just need to be patient and wait my turn for Mr. Horton to come and repair our house. I love that he can fix anything!!

A couple of weeks ago on a very cold Saturday afternoon the kids and I thought it would be fun to make some new lap blankets. So while Cory and Mason were outside working somewhere on a cold roof (sorry guys) we had a fun craft day!! Kobe chose for his blanket a darling checker soft fleece, Brookey wanted a more cute girly zebra pattern, I broke down and did a Denver Broncos blanket for Mason. We had hot chocolate and watched Daddy Day Care. It really was a great day!!

Time is going by so quickly I know we all hear that all the time but it really is true. Life is so precious everyday is a gift I am so grateful for my life and for my family. Last night I was tucking the kids in bed and I had a moment to tell them just how much their Heavenly Father loves them to think about that to ponder on that kind of love. I loved President Uchtdorf's talk when he says we ALL have weaknesses but we ALL have strengths only through him can we turn our weaknesses into strengths. I am so excited for this season of Thanksgiving coming up for a time to be Thankful for all we have and for all we are.

The best of all, us four played in a Red, White, and Blue tournament I was nervous to say the least more like frightened beyond anything. However I enjoyed it so much and after 18 holes we came in 4th place and won $ which I spent on my very own golf shoes, that's right I really want to get better at golf I just wish my brother lived closer :( Mason played awesome and Cory and Cher saved us!!!! it was so much fun I want to play in it every year.

I love you guys this was our third year visiting and I love that you let us come I know it goes way to fast we try and get in all we can and then we have to go. Though I usually drive away crying (I don't like living far from any of my siblings) I love coming to Stone Ridge every summer.

This big guy here was a little tired after playing in a baseball game in 93 degrees, I love that he still looks little when he sleeps.

Shaw Dance got to dance at the last Jazz game this year, a little sad for the Jazz but she had lots of fun, (in the picture Brooke is in purple right behind the girl in the middle that is leaning to the side) Jana Shaw is on the right and Cheryl Martinez is on the left these two ladies are seriously intense and have taught Brooke lots. Then Brooke and I enjoyed a basketball game, as you can see from the picture we were on the last row all the way up it was awful to say the least but we had fun eating nachos and diet Coke.

I love you Brookey, one more competition and then recital and then a try out in June for next year............Now comes Mason and Kobe's baseball with 6 games a week between the two of them WOW!

Easter morning 2011

Easter was great this year I loved the talks in church especially Brooke's talk in Primary it was so good! She wrote it all by herself with zero help and she read a poem that left some with some tears. I cant believe how fast the kids are growing up I am so happy to be their momma. I am now looking forward to warmer weather.......but not so much yard work. I hope everyone had a great Easter Sunday. A side note in the pictures yes the sun was in the kids eyes as you can see lol

private tour of BYU

Cory's boss was able to get he and another employee a special private tour of BYU a week ago, so Cory took his boys to Provo where they had a day they will never forget which included meeting Jake Heaps and Ross Apo. Jake and Ross were out on the field doing some passing drills when Cory walked up and approached Jake asking for a picture and they both signed a brand new football for us also. My three guys had a great time as you can see.

Thanks Stacey for being there that night and for taking pictures since at the moment I do not own a camera. Mason did have a birthday last Friday and he did turn 14 years old I can't believe it 14!!!! and yes the rumors are true he did take a little joy ride in the "parking lot" of the training table in Layton and yes Cory and I have a few more grey hairs then before. How he got the keys? His dad was fooled into the "I just want to listen to music speech" needless to say we have become smarter and are fully prepared to raise this teenager. It is true what they say though about karma coming back to bite ya which is why both my parents and Cory's will be excited for this show ha ha. All in all it was a great day and I love Mason so much I am so proud of him and his grades this last term were wonderful. I am so glad he came when he did and was brave enough to come to such young parents. I love you buddy.

Boys went to Las Vegas to spend some time with Grandpa J and Grandma Liz. These guys had such a great time the "Fre-dette about it" t-shirts were a big hit. I want to say for me it seems like life is really all about holding on to what is dear and true in your heart, I want to thank my sister in law Stacey for her recent blog post and for Kate I love the innocence of a child and the spirit within them all.

I have suffered loss and pain and more times then not questions unanswered but I to am so grateful to know that there is something much bigger then this, and I believe in moments of silence where our thoughts and wishes are heard we are not alone. I know that he will dry our eyes and fight our fight.

Valentines Dinner

I think in this circumstance we need to introduce our Valentine Dessert first, we each had one.

For our Valentines dinner we went to FLEMMINGS only in our opinion the best place ever!! it was our fourth time eating there and it still is as good as the first. This picture here was Cory's meal, however I had the best fish in the world that's right in the world. Alaskan Rock Petrale Sole never heard of this before but I loved it. We had asparagus and yummy Caesar salad along with lots of bread "2 loafs" said Cory. What a fabulous night and it's so nice to go out to dinner with your husband of almost 14 years because you can double dip your bread and not have to worry. I love you Cory without you there just would not be a Jenny. You make me laugh without trying and you brighten my days. xoxox

surgery

So I realize the blog has been about Mason for awhile. So he wore the purple cast for two weeks we went in for a follow up x-ray and Dr. said it wasn't healing so into surgery he went yesterday morning. He was so nervous Cory gave him a blessing the night before and that helped him so much. I know that this was just an arm but there is something very nerve wrenching about watching your baby young or old be wheeled into the operating room. Needless to say it killed me. After what seemed like eternity the Dr. said I could go be with him in the recovery room as we walked back and they pulled that curtain open for a split second I saw that crazy little toddler all full of teeth grinning at me. I love this boy I love the worry and stress that comes with being his mom, I love the jokes and the laughs he brings to us. I love that deep voice that is ALWAYS talking even when I don't want to hear another word. Most of all I love the text messages he sent to me all day today telling me he loves me and thanking me for all I do for him. Be strong Mason and patient this will end the pins will come out soon enough and you will be hitting home runs in no time!

Why are things the way they are? We all have what we believe is the answer to this question and some answers help and others not so much. If things are meant to be then why wont the heart leave well enough alone? We all have dreams and wishes and hopes, we all desire joy, and if we look deep we all posses this but to feel empty inside somehow is devastating. Our blessings in all our lives pull us through, they make us smile and give us thankful hearts so we can get through the harder times.
So I guess we may never know all the answers to every question and that has to be okay. I love all my family and friends my kids and my husband are my reason for each day, this post isn't meant for any comments it's just for me. May you all have the righteous desires of your hearts.

Yes this is a bathtub full of laundry, our washing machine died and we did buy another one but we had to move the old one out of the laundry room and of course Cory wanted to clean behind it so he thought it would be a great idea to stuff all the dirty clothes into the bathtub while we wait for the new washer to be delivered. When I first saw this I screamed out loud. I'm always behind on laundry but this brings a new meaning to the phrase "behind on laundry"

Well she turned 11 today and she has been asking for a Paul Millsap jersey for 3 months so she was one happy girl, she and her daddy go to a Jazz game around her birthday every year together and she is truly a fan! I love you peanut and as I look at you tonight all I can see is that tiny 6 pound beauty that was placed in my arms 11 years ago and although it's a little difficult for me I sure do love the young lady you have become. My brother Troy came into town this weekend for a short visit before he headed off to Florida to finish up PGA stuff (it actually is really cool, we are so proud of him) getting back to my title.
Troy used to only eat at one place when he came La Frontera however since his last visit we were cursed to have an In n Out built. So now there is two places at which he will go and we made sure we hit both of them IN THE SAME DAY I might add.

So Monday morning consisted of a spin class and sweating smothered burritos, and double doubles out! Yikes I don't even want to think of the calories we consumed and I'm not one to watch my calories but I know this Saturday was hurtful to the love handles.

Well it's official Kobe's TEN!!! which means for the next two weeks I have two 10 year olds that's right this little gut had to come 11 months after his sister that was CRAZY but we are so glad he came. Kobe wanted homemade bacon burgers for dinner, and red velvet cake, a "stitched" Adrian Peterson jersey and to watch a movie with his family and to sleep in his parents room and stay up late on a school night so that is what we are doing tonight. I love you handsome guy and thanks for December1st 2000 WOW what a birth date.

This is Kobe's last week of football, he was awesome and the whole team did so great. Kobe and 5 other boys have played now on the same team for three years it has been so fun to watch these boys get better with each year.

Tonight after Cory gave the kids back to school blessings, I went in to tuck Kobe into bed and he had a little tear in his eye and I asked him what was wrong and he said "I'm just so grateful for Dad, I was scared for math because I didn't know how to do division but now after my blessing I feel better." I love that kid.

This was one of those super cool moments so we here that Karl Malone is going to be at his dealership for his birthday Saturday so Cory woke us up bright and early hoping to be one of the first in line but we get better then that.

We get out of the car and about 30 feet in front of us is Karl Malone standing in the parking lot talking with some of the car dealers. Words that work best to describe this man is huge, tall, handsome, tall, huge! So we walk towards him and he yells out to Kobe "hey little man" and passes a basketball to Kobe and says you can keep that. Well Kobe just went blank as he held the ball. Karl walks over to us, meets us asked Mason if he played sports, asked Brooke if her brother's were taking good care of her. Meanwhile Kobe still had his neck back and was looking toward the sky at this giant of a man. So he signed the ball... To Kobe Karl Malone #32 (although it says to Kobe Cory says it will go in his "man room" one day in the basement) All in all it was a cool morning we went upstairs at the dealership and looked at all of the NBA stuff of Karl's and Mason was more interested in the Michael Jordan jersey (see picture) So it was time to hit the road and Brooke took one more second to run up and ask him to sign her Karl Malone card which of course he did. So now the kids have a face to put to all the stories we tell about the mailman!

Brooke took some pictures of me holding 10 week old baby Nixon, this was the day I spent holding him all day! It truly was a great day.

Beckam and Nixon have been a really big part of our lives well Beckam for almost a year now and Nixon really just the last two weeks, but that's all it took for me to love this little guy. I will miss them so so so much! We are just so glad we get to see them at church each week.

Well the ball pretty much says it!!! and it was AMAZING. Two strikes, two balls then the pitch Mase cranks it way over the fence and not a short fence but a biggie. Mason ran his bases the whole team was there at home base to tackle him and coaches as well Cory was standing in the bleaches screaming while his sunflower seeds were going everywhere. It was a perfect Homerun. NICE HIT MASE!!

Mason finishes the seventh grade this week, he did it ya see Mason is a very bright boy but gets very easily distracted by the social scene but he finished with flying colors and we are happy to add he will not be needing any summer school and is looking forward to the eighth grade (after a lazy summer of course) Lagoon pass will keep him in his social circle.

Brooke will be leaving the fourth grade this week I cant believe it this is how old Mason was when we moved here, time sure fly's. She had a EXCELLENT teacher this year I'm talking one of those really amazing ones I've already sent an email into the principal requesting her for Kobe next year. She has learned so much and has turned into a lovely little lady.

Kobe Reed says "c-ya" to the third grade his teacher will miss his stories as I'm told he tells some woppers about his family how scary but she still likes us so that's good. He is so smart and organized he is my most pleasant one in the mornings I always get the extra hug in the car after he turns down my radio that embarrasses him a bit I think. Kobe has made a new best friend this year her name is Shaylie and they are inseparable.

Another school year gone I cant believe it and now I'm off to do Field Day today at the school all day I love it and so do the kids I cant believe it they still like having me around!

She did it another year come and gone! Brooke was AMAZING! she competed in 7 dances 3 jazz routines, 2 hip hop, 1 lyrical, and 1 team event. She worked so hard this year and still managed to keep up wonderful grades in school, and even over came getting very sick. Last night we got to see her do all her routines one last time at her end of year recital she was great. We love you Brooke and love the beautiful dancer you have become it is all due to your hard work and dedication. I love you peanut

Three dance competitions down four more to go, Brooke is totally exceeding her teacher's expectations and is doing fabulous. She recently had bangs cut and she looks so grown up, and her room continues to be a mess.

Kobe got a haircut, and the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, he has lots of friends and one cute girl in particular. He still tucks me in bed every night and gives the best hugs. He's enjoying his down time until FOOTBALL which is all he talks about.
Mason: Hey Kobe do you wanna go play catch?

Kobe: Baseball or Football?

Mason: Baseball duh Kobe I need to practice

Kobe: Nope lets toss the football

and it goes on and on like this for awhile.

Cory is working and still has yet to move the piles and piles of rock from the driveway we are going on 9 months with those. Started the basement a little this winter but now with spring I'm sure he'll switch to the yard. However his golf game has gotten better and better and that's the most important

Mason has hurt his back and not just a little owie but one that requires 9 trips to Physical Therapy 3 times a week in the mornings. He hurt in baseball but wants nothing more then to be whole again for his favorite sport, he continues to grow and had his first boy girl birthday bash at the house last Friday and lets just say I had 40 teenagers in my home and 70 empty pop cans in the backyard.

I have a cold today and I miss my Beckam boy. I don't like my hair at all right now yuck. I worry about my Grandma and need to go see her. I have good days and great days. I cant seem to get enough chips and salsa lately, and on a completely different note I am running that's right Jill keeps me running and I'm happy to say I can now run at a speed of 6.5 new record.(I wont tell you Jill's)

We are anxious for school to get out and to see Troy, Cher and kids and are very excited to meet our new niece Violet.

Happy Birthday Mason Cory Horton. You were due on March 11th but you made me hang on to you for two more weeks I was furious! I think the Doctor finally said I could have you because every time he saw me I was crying, lets just say I wasn't the most patient shocker I know. You were born at 9:30pm and you were screaming loud from your first breath but when they laid you in my arms our eyes met and you became still and quiet. We both knew we were in for a challenge but I think we met that challenge with flying colors. Now we face another challenge teenager years and once again together we can do it. I watched the video of you today being born and of course cried like a baby. Thanks for choosing us and for being the oldest in our family and for being Mason, mommy loves you
Mason you always make everyone laugh, you are such a delight to be around, I have enjoyed every minute raising you to 13 years I will be honest I'm so not ready for you to grow up any more then this. It really seems to me that the years are coming and going to fast. I love you more then words can say and one day when you hold your own son and watch him grow to 13 then you will know just how much I love you.

Weekend in Las Vegas

Brooke's Grandma Ashcroft gave this to her on the way to Vegas. Brooke named him Scipio because we had to stop in Scipico because of a terrible snow storm what a town only a Motel 8 and a gas staion that is open sometimes. Well now at least Brooke's Dr. Suess's whale is named after this town

Dad and Liz took us to see Phantom of the Opera words can't express how fabulous it was Brooke and I agreed when it ended we wanted to see it aagain, and Cory LOVED it he said "I cant believe people can actually sing like that" love him

So every day three times a day we had to go up five escalators to get to convention you would think there would have been an elevator near by and I'm sure there was but we didn't look. The girls became quite fond of these escalators.

Hollywood Vibe 2010

Well Competition season has officially started for Brooke, and to start it off we are headed to Las Vegas for Hollywood Vibe Convention and Competition. This is going to be a huge experience for Brooke she is so excited two days of workshop where she will get to be taught by some of the best instructors ever! Brooke's team will compete two dances a jazz and a lyrical and these six girls have worked SUPER hard to prepare for this six days a week hard. Brooke got so run down she even got Epstein Barr Syndrome but she worked through It and is now 100%

We get to stay with my Dad and Liz so that makes it even better, I'm so excited for them to see Brooke do her thing! We will be leaving our boys with Cory's parents so sorry boys I don't feel to badly they did get to go down for the BYU game before Christmas so it's Brooke's turn. GOOD LUCK Peanut

Turning 30 calls for new golf clubs

Turning 30 for Cory is one Birthday he will never forget and I'm not talking about anything really special that happened no I'm talking about this is the year he got new GOLF CLUBS and not just any golf clubs but really, really nice GOLF CLUBS! That's right having a golf pro for a brother sure made this easy and so much fun. Thanks Troy for all the help Cory thanks you to. In the words of Cory "I officially have the nicest putter ever" living on a golf course sure makes it easy in fact he is over there right now on the putting green. I just know he will be making a tee time this week as long as the weather holds up.

Mom had the clubs hidden in her car then Sheila topped this morning off with Cory's favorite dessert ECLAIRS (which he said no one could have one, he said you had to be 30 to have one) Happy Birthday Cory I love you.

Hello everyone this is Cory to all those who read Jen's blog

I'm not good at saying this stuff so here it goes, we have had another miscarriage well to be exact it hasn't happened quite yet she will see the doctor next week and together we will decide what to do next. I want to thank all for the prayers for Jen we have wanted this for a long time now and for whatever the reason this just isn't meant to happen for us. Jen is a great Mom and she dose not deserve this nor do I and my children. I keep thinking this truly is life, bad and good comes to us all how we choose to face and deal with it defines who we are. I speak for Jen and myself when I say we have the best kids and it was no accident us having them as young as we did and for that I thank God. All that matters now is her and our family, again thanks to all of you for your hope and faith in us. I'm looking forward to getting my Jenny back soon.

Sunday January 10th 2010 a miracle

Today marks a week, it was seven days ago when it happened.

Cancun, Mexico six of us Cory, myself, John, his wife Nikole, Spencer, and his wife Ashley playing in the ocean jumping waves body surfing having the time of our lives, I remember thinking what fun not a care in the world then in one second everything changed.

Sheer panic on all our faces as we start to drift backwards instead of forward we began to swim and swim harder and harder getting nowhere, the sand and the hotel is getting farther and farther away. Six people who once were clumped up together suddenly start drifting further and further apart from each other, it's now getting dark and winds are getting worse I realize we are in a rip tide and I'm filled with panic. A scream from Spencer "help" as we can see people standing on the beach watching but so far and with crashing waves no one can hear. Then Cory yells "help help" for we are starting to realize we are not making it in. I think to myself if we all just take care of ourselves we will make it it might be awhile but we are all healthy strong in good shape we can do this we will not go down, so I start to swim diagonally hoping eventually I would hit a sand bar or something I swim for about 4 minutes thinking Cory is right behind me, I turn around 30 yards or so away my husband is drowning completely drowning I'm watching Cory slip out of my life. My head says keep going Jen get help for him, but my heart screams go to him. As I start swimming out to Cory I get so scared I'm going further out to sea. I reach Cory I reach down fill his arm and pull him up with every pull of his arm I'm sinking this is not going to work I cant hold him and save me. I look out squinting to the beach I see a lifeguard rip off his jacket and is swimming towards us but it just looks so far he wont reach Cory in time. I hold my breath go under water holding Cory above just so he can get some air I do this twice still no lifeguard yet. Cory says "Jen I don't want to die like this, I love my kids, my leg is cramping, I love you I don't want to die"

A line from my patriarchal blessing comes into my head a line that for 13 years I have been afraid of: Jennifer you will have strong and capable arms to protect you and Cory from the powers of evil, this was it this was this evil power it was Sunday and an evil powerful force was taking my husband. I said out loud right then and there "NO CORY I GOT YOU" I got behind him and put my arms under his and with everything I had I held on. The lifeguard reached us he had a bowie wrapped arond his waist he said I can take one which one? I gave him Cory my husband crying like I've never seen him cry before as he was being saved and I was left behind. That lifeguard looked at me as he started to swim away with Cory and said "swim I need you to swim" I had nothing else left inside of me every bit of energy I had I used on Cory, how was I going to swim? I uttered "My Heavenly Father please give me the strength to swim, I'm so tired but I know you are with me now so PLEASE pull me in. To all my friends and family that I love I tell you someone pulled me in I did not swim on my own, so for however strong this force was he was much stronger, and his love for me was so great I was given a guardian angel that day. I swam until about neck deep when Gary my dear father in law had swam out to me and by the time I reach him he said I just went limp, I knew he was there and he would bring me the rest of the way.

The beach was filled with people that day people crying most of who don't know any of us. As we watched two more lifeguards bring Spencer and Ashley in and after the oxygen was given we all sat there on that beach looking out at the water shivering thanking God for sparing our lives. Cory's mom frantic to hold her son and touch him once again.

We all learned a few lessons that day, Sunday is not for swimming especially in the ocean, miracles do happen, but most of all live your life so that the blessings that are promised you like the ones in your Patriarchal Blessing can be yours. I will never deny what happened to us that day nor will I forget it. My prayer is that we can all learn from this as we are here to teach each other. I'm grateful to be alive and I love all of you

Well Jen, it's our third and final day tending to the Horton Hurricane.

Kobe has been my little buddy.

He gives me hugs, but pretends like he doesn't want to.

Brooke has been a little angel,

spending all of her time with Pearl.

Pearl wishes she could be Brookie,

and cried every-time we had to drop her off somewhere.

Pearl finally put her foot down tonight when I told her we had to drive Brooke to dance.

She said "no mom, we can't take her to dance."

We had to anyway.

See for yourself what happened.

Then there is Mason.

Oh Mason.

His binder went missing today.

I took him back to school after hours,

to see if had turned up.

Well he returned without his binder,

but not empty-handed.

He came out with book 2 book covers.

To put on his... head?

He, being the good brother he is, made sure Kobe had one too.

Then Mason showed us a very haunted house.

Apparently it has chains hanging from the ceiling.

I guess it's time for me to turn them back over to you.

One thing I must say Jen--

You are one very loved Mom.

You had little trinkets displayed all over your house

that had been given to you by your kids.

I love that.

Day two begins with a hearty breakfast of

Then of course it was time for the school drop-off.

Where Pearl, who was avoiding getting dressed,

We straightened the house,
picked the kids up from school,
watched Mason eat 2 cheeseburgers and a large fry,
drove Kobe to scouts,
and to his delight-- it was canceled.
Then off to dance goes Brooke.
whew!

Brooke came home from her dance class,

Then she and Kobe spent hours entertaining Pearl.

It's Stacey here. I've taken over your blog while you're

basking in the Mexican sun.
I guess that's what you get for giving me your password.
Although it did take me a few attempts to remember what it was,
and then I laughed--
because i think it's a funny password.

Anyway Jen, here is a run down of what happened while you were away.

We took over the babysitting responsibilities today.
Just in time to pick the kids up from school.
We were in the car for the next three hours
shuttling the kids around to their various activities.
Then I watched little Kobe eat 2 roast beef sandwiches and a large curly fry.
It was awesome.
We spent a half an hour in the house,
before turning right back around to pick up the kids.
You are quite the chauffeur Jen!
We came home, and were delighted to see that uncle Kelly had made it back from work.
A unanimous decision was made amongst the household--
This family night called for a trip to
the Pizza Factory!

The best part was when Kobe

{you know, the one who just ate 2 roast beef sandwiches and a large curly fry}

said "please let's go, I'm starving!"

Then Uncle Kelly,

who treats Mason more like a little brother than a nephew

stole Mason's phone and started sending embarrassing text messages to all of his friends.

including the girls {yes, girls multiple} he likes.

Then the bread-twists came.

and everyone was really happy.

A big side note of this dinner--

Mason insisted on getting a big pizza, which was quite expensive.

This was very soon after he had eaten 3/4 of the delicious roast

Grandma Jewkes made earlier.

Uncle Kelly told Mason if he didn't finish all of his pizza,

he was going to shave his eyebrows off.

Long story short:

Mason ate only one slice of his pizza.

To tell you the truth,

Kelly wasn't going to go through with the bet.

That was until Mason made a final pleading phone call to Mexico.

He gets no help from his parents.

Especially from his father,

who told Kelly to shave them bald.

With the go ahead from Cory,

Kelly wields the razor in his hand.

Instead of finishing this story,

which may or may not be a sore subject...

Mom's shoulder repair

Mom had surgery Friday on her shoulder due to a fall she had back in October. I think all of us in a way (of course not as bad as Mom's denial) thought this would not be as difficult of recovering.... boy were we wrong!

My cute little Mom cant do much for herself and between Amy, Kelly, and myself we are taking shifts. Jill is stuck home with Jason and his broken ankle. I'm so grateful for our health to make it possible for us to be there for Mom.

I know that this will be a test of patience for her but we all have to learn and relearn that principle in our lives. We all love you Mom and with every passing day you will get stronger, that is of course until physical therapy in which I know she will be a stinker. I will keep updating

The night before you were born Dad came home from work with 12 long stem pink roses for me. I don't know if it was the pink flowers or my inability to be patient but I had to hold you right then. So I went to the store and got some castor oil and drank the whole bottle. Sure enough it brought on labor and twelve hours of waiting you were here. Tiny little girl strait from Heaven to us, your big brother loved you from the moment he saw you. You came home in a little winter suit with baby pink rose buds all over it. This morning before I woke you up I went and looked at that very same outfit and remembered what it was like ten years ago today. Thank you for choosing me as your Mom, I love you

Slumber Party for Brooke

We had a SLUMBER party for Brooke on Friday. She invited Maegan, Britney, Ali, Mia, Wren, Joelle, Devrie, and Hailey all the girls had such a good time, I must admit I had some fun also. Cory and the boys took off and went bowling until almost midnight (I guess at that time they felt it was safe to come home) All these girls were so cute and all got along, I really don't know what time they went to sleep but I slept so that's all I care about. Kobe had a way fun Birthday party, he had some buddies come over last Saturday night and they all watched the BYU Utah game (most were happy about the outcome) they headed for the backyard where Mason played some basketball with them in the dark under the hoop lights all the boys thought this was super cool!!!! Kobe received a new football so of course they broke it in with a game outside. It amazes me how boys just don't get cold as long as they are playing sports that they love. All in all it was a fun night.

December 1st 2000 you came into the world, all the nurses said you looked like a blond Swedish beauty. You had long curly blond hair and you smelled so so good. Oh and man you liked to nurse a LOT!!!
You were the CHUBBIEST little toddler there ever was, and it was here at this stage when all you would say was "tida, tida" and today that is your nick name "Tida" Dad would lay you on his chest every night as he and you would watch TV together and eventually you would fall asleep, (along with drool on Dad's shirt)

I'm trying out a new exercise routine an impossible one for someone who really enjoys the morning sleeping hours, but I am left no choice if I don't stick to this schedule it wont get done at all!

5:00am Cory- "Jen wake up

Jen- "no this sucks"

Cory- "well then turn off the alarm"

Jen- "no I have to go"

Cory- "whatever..."

5:15am I get my workout clothes on

5:20am I get in my car freezing cold driving and convincing myself that what I'm doing is good.

5:30 my class starts, I'm always about 5 minutes late but the important thing is I'm there.

I really hate this routine because come after dinner time I'm exhausted but what other option do I have if I'm going to fit into a swimsuit in January for Cancun this is going to have to be my reality!

Meanwhile Cory will just keep being Cory eating a box of Little Debbies every single day and all the Mountain Dew he can swallow, and with his metabolism why not?

So my Dad recommended this show and it was fabulous!! Anyone who saw and enjoyed A Chorus Line needs to see this. A beautiful documentary show about commitment, talent and the drive it takes to make a dream come true! Anyone who loves dance will enjoy this however you really must know A Chorus Line to get the full affect. WOW

I wasn't going to put this picture on because my camera gave Stacey red eyes, but I think it just adds to the look! sexy, scary, dark gothic chick that's my take Stacey :)

Our kids are so big carving pumpkins all by themselves, this is always the best time watching them do this and hearing the ideas. Mason once again put screws in the sides of his pumpkin every year is the same with that one.

SO we look like this because this was before the game and how were we to know BYU would do so TERRIBLE, we were just so excited to be there together. I can explain the ponchos, Dad went out by the seats and the rain was coming in sideways he had brought garbage sacks but how was that going to look? So he found these Cougar ponchos. Cory did end up wearing his also later on.

I did get a kiss though
I was really wanting a diet coke, forgot where I was so caffeine free was the closest thing, thanks for looking out for my health BYU.

She is everything I ever hoped and dreamed of in a little girl, I have enjoyed every moment with her and cant wait to watch her grow, there's nothing quite like having a daughter, and I got a good one.

This week was a big week for these dudes BASKETBALL TRYOUT and for a seventh grader that is super scary or at least I think it is, three tryouts Monday, Tuesday, and today, we will see how it goes I love you boys

this week consisted of Labor day sleeping in Cory had to work however, picnic with the fam I didn't bring my camera shucks. School mornings with Eggo waffles with peanut butter and chocolate milk (apple juice for Mason) Brooke tried a new Hannah Montana cereal this week it was a hit, Kobe thought so but it was "a girl cereal" Football each night along with dance which is now three times a week, so lots of time in the car I'm officially hooked on country music "God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy" that's a new favorite hit I don't like beer but I dig that song. Homework as usual Junior High so ya homework. Dinners are difficult lets see twice this week we ate at 8:45pm one time being Pizza and with kids bed times at 9:30 that's crazy three kids are in three different showers all at the same time it's a race for hot water, quick read for twenty minutes have family prayer off to bed I love how innocent the kids get as you tuck them into bed, for a few seconds as you look into those little eyes you can see the tiny child in them, and then we wake up and do it all over again the next day. I failed to mention Cory has joined a softball team like he has any time ha ha that's hilarious but he made it for his double header last Tue. Crazy life the best part I can start to smell Fall in the air and as bad as my allergies are I cant help but get excited for Halloween and to put pumpkins on the front porch.
